Materials
Here’s what you’ll need:
- Fabric for the Corset (see sizing charts on pattern envelope for fabric requirements):
- Black textured vinyl
- Pellon iron-on interfacing in black
- Broadcloth for lining
- Heavy-weight canvas for interlining
- 12" separating zipper
- Rigilene boning
- Fabric for Cape (see sizing charts on pattern envelope for fabric requirements):
- 60” wide satin fabric
- 3/8 yard ¾”-wide hook and loop tape
- Fabric for gauntlets:
- ½ yard studded vinyl
- ½ yard lining
- General Supplies:
- Simplicity Pattern #8201 or #D0510
- Fabric shears
- Curved scissors
- Tailor’s ham
- Pins
- Hand-sewing needles
- Clips (to use instead of pins when working with vinyl)
- All-purpose thread to match fabric
- Washi tape (optional)
- Seam ripper
- Marking chalk or pencils
- 3 sew-on snaps
- Sewing machine
- Iron and ironing board
- Zipper foot attachment
- Jeans or leather sewing machine needle (optional)
- Trims or fur (optional)
